Yes, It is important that you get married to a husband or wife of your earnest dream. Many Spinsters and Bachelors have indicated that their dream life partners must or should possess some or all of these qualities: pretty, short, tall, dark, fair, slim, fat, chocolate, hairy, plumb, graduate, employed, must be a medical doctor, a nurse, a lawyer, a professional, a pastor, must be Ibo, Yoruba, caring, godly, within certain age, and so on.

These qualities are indeed good. As humans, we all like to have things that are not only good to look, presentable, or ago-boosting, but also the choice we made should have the capacity to stimulate and energize natural love for a blissful and sustainable marriage life.

However, a child of God in all his or her aspirations in life is required by the Word of God to allow room for “the Will of God”. The choice God make for us, if he is given a room to do that, is key to the overall success of our marital life here on earth.

Even though God Himself recognises our right to choose or desire a thing which in our prayer we ask Him to grant, it is honourable and a wise thing to do if a child of God turns to God and say, “Father, choose my life partner for me, give me that man or woman of your choice. I have buried my own right to the qualities a person who should be my wife or husband must have, and I am giving you the whole chance to choose for me”. This seems logical!

Most time, when some christian spinsters and bachelors are not faithful to God in their daily relationship with Him, they tends to resort to doing things by themselves. If you love God and God Loves you, he will give you the best in everything. Remember the case of Solomon in the bible…… he had the right to ask for anything, but he surprised God when he said, “God, I just want you to help me with capacity to rule your people well…. He was given Wisdom plus other things he did not even asked for”…. You know the story.

Do not be rigid, unshifting about the qualities that your dream wife or husband must have; be flexible and God trusting. No doubt, your expectations are necessary, but it must not be overstretched… don’t carry them too far. In everything, let us pray out the mind of God over those qualities you have outlined. Sometimes, God may say “this and that” on your list are not necessary.

God is the owner of everyone, Him alone knows the shape of things of yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever. Do not leave God out of your plan and thoughts for marriage. Ensure that you condition yourself to the spirit of God by constantly reading the Bible, fasting and praying, living according to his word, and engaging yourself in good works.

Live a daily quality Christian life that members of the public finds difficult to condemn; be righteous, be holy, be godly; honour God with your tithes and offerings; respect people and be kind, always ready to help or assist to carry out tasks… showing character that pictures you as one that will be a good husband or wife. Watch the way you talk, watch the way you dress, and watch your movement. Do not engage in pre-marital sex; don’t ask for it, don’t give it, don’t yield to the pressure. If you are looking on God, He also is looking on you for all these.
